As companies are forced to reduce costs, expand their product scope and service a global customer
Base, their supply chain process is critical to their success. These companies are generally working to source raw materials and finished goods from Asia or subcontract the manufacturing in Asia of finished goods which can be sold to the local domestic market or exported to the US and other markets.
In an effort to reduce costs, improve quality and satisfy a global customer base, East West works with Western firms to develop an Asian supply chain process. This may include identifying and qualifying Asian suppliers, negotiating contracts, obtaining comparable pricing from Asian suppliers, conduct a 'make vs. buy' analysis for the company and other services.
EW is currently managing the Asian supply chain and quality control process for Western companies who need our on-the-ground execution capabilities to identify and qualify new vendors, providing on-going process inspections, random quality control testing of raw materials and finished goods, freight forwarding assistance, obtaining additional pricing from competitive suppliers and identifying new product development in the marketplace.
Many Western companies are required to supply their client base in Asia - thus, these firms will often subcontract the production from an Asian supplier and have the product shipped to their client. However, there are significant operational issues involved with this subcontracting arrangement, including the potential theft of IP and client base.
EW is not a trading company which works on behalf of the Chinese and Asian manufacturers. Rather, we are the 'procurement arm' in China for our Western clients. As a result, our responsibility is to the Western customer and not the Asian manufacturer.
