Perry Smith, has been living and working in Asia for all his life and has held executive positions with leading USA multinational companies in the Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Paper & Packaging, and High Technology industries. Before joining the Advisory Board of East West, Inc, he was President & CEO of a USA based sustainable packaging company serving the automotive and sophisticated films industries.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Japan and Taiwan, Perry and his family have lived for many years in Singapore where he was a Corporate Officer/Vice President and Managing Director responsible for the Asia operations of Sonoco Products Company, a Fortune 500 paper and packaging company. He was responsible for the regional business from Japan to India.

In 2002 he moved to Shanghai where he was responsible for the Asia Pacific Industrial Products Group for W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. The company is a global leader in the environmental and high technology media market and is the producer of the Gore-Tex® brand, famous in the outdoor wear market.

Perry Smith has been married for 34 years to the former Margaret McCoy of Zanesville, Ohio. They have 3 grown children who are living in Atlanta, San Francisco and Dallas.

He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The George Washington University and has a master’s business degree from The American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). He has been active in a number of Asia regional business forums and steering committees.

Currently the Smiths live in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he is active in helping companies plan, operate and execute more effectively in the Asia Pacific region.
