For clients operating in Asia who are having problems with their existing business model, East West provides operational trouble-shooting support from our Shanghai office. Recent East West engagements of Operational Improvement include supporting companies with supply chain vendor issues, subcontracting agreements, manufacturing and distribution operational problems, collection matters, Joint Venture partners and theft of Intellectual Property.
In order to validate the operational integrity of their Asian operations, East West has also conducted operational Audits on facilities for review by the Asian and US executives.
Operational Improvement assignments are generally conducted in several 'phases':
- Our on-the-ground team performs an Assessment or Audit of the business, vendors, mid and high-level executives, etc. in order to obtain detailed information on the company and a critical understanding o the potential operational, sales and marketing, supply chain and manufacturing issues.
- Gathers the necessary Audit information needed to develop our recommended solutions
- Based on the gathered information, East West will analyze the findings based on our deep operational experience in Asia and make a series of recommendations. These recommendations are developed to address the client's concerns related to Intellectual Property protection.
- East West will assist the client in determining the best solutions - it is our expectation that East West will identify more than one operational improvement.
- Lastly, East West can execute the Operational Improvement on behalf of the client.
Operational Improvement engagements are usually conducted soon after the company has problems with the Asian businesses. These companies need quick resolution in order to prevent the further loss of money and return their Asian business to a standard of 'operational excellence', so they can compete successfully in this tough economic environment.
