Global Strategic Initiative - in Support of Corporate Restructuring
The Global Strategic Initiative (GSI) is a service for clients needing to make meaningful and immediate changes to their business model in order to address the economic pressures on their business, usually reducing costs, improving service levels, streamlining supply chain, adding capacity, balancing fixed and variable costs of operations, etc. Emphasis is on rapid and meaningful results.
Clients are often in or near economic crisis and require confidentiality. Because of the required urgency, we will initially meet with the turnaround firm, senior executive team and in certain cases, the board of directors.
Our approach is a 3-step process:
-
On-site meetings with the client's corporate executive team and understand strengths and weaknesses of client's global business model.
-
Research other industry business models both within the current industry (including competitors) and outside of client's industry. Our Business Intelligence team in our Asian office provides competitive models working in Asia for Western firms and non-Western firms.
-
Applying the gathered information, our team of professionals will formulate a best practice model, which meets the client's defined Objective.
When executing our approach, we are mindful of opportunities for improvement in the areas of Margin Optimization, Speed to Market, Lead-time/Customer Service Levels, and Quality Assurance. When developing the right business model, we analyze a variety of questions, including:
-
Can the client's existing Asian strategy be modified to provide enhanced value? If the client does not have an existing strategy, can such a strategy financially and operationally benefit the client?
-
How can we improve margin?
-
How can we increase speed to Market?
-
How can we improve your lead-time?
-
How can we improve your quality?
-
How can we increase scalability?
-
Determine strategy around fixed vs. variable costs of operations with respect to clients situation and stability of distribution network while balancing risk and reward.
In these economic times, our client's existing business models are often stressed or broken and require urgency and confidentiality. East West is focused on leveraging our global operational expertise to address their immediate economic needs, before turning to their longer-term strategy and increasing their enterprise value.
East West members have been responsible for developing and implementing China/Asian strategies for multiple companies and held positions in Asian operations. Our experience allows our team to conduct impartial and reasoned review and make specific recommendations for changing corporate strategy.
