In this global slow-down, many Asian operations of Western companies are not meeting their financial and operational objectives. These problems require significant management attention since they are a financial drain on the company. However, many companies are not sure what changes need to be made or how these changes should be executed. As a result, companies have been looking to East West to provide an impartial assessment and list of Corrective Actions detailing the necessary changes.
Based on our extensive experience successfully operating businesses in Asia, East West is evaluating these Asian operations in order to identify the strategic and tactical reasons the company is not meeting their operational and financial goals and secondly, provide specific Corrective Actions to rectify these problems.
This Assessment allows clients to thoroughly understand the strengths and weaknesses of their operation and make fact-based decisions based on the Assessment's findings. Additionally, East West provides a specific list of Corrective Actions to address the identified problems and a clear 'Roadmap' for implementing these Actions.
Since East West members have held positions responsible for developing and implementing the China/Asian strategies for their prior companies and held numerous positions in subsequent Asian operations, our experience allows our team to conduct impartial and reasoned Assessments and make specific recommendations for change to the US and Asian executives.
The Assessment is a detailed written report in which East West:
-
Investigates the client's Asian operation and document those problems which are preventing the company from reaching their financial and operational goals.
-
Details a list of Corrective Actions which need to be taken in order to correct the identified problems. We prioritize these Corrective Actions in a 'Roadmap' to ensure the orderly resolution of these problems.
To conduct the Assessment, East West visits the operation and meets with the senior executives on-site. We examine the primary divisions, including product development, manufacturing, production, sales & marketing, laboratory, quality assurance, logistics, supply chain procurement and customer service. Additionally, we also meet with the finance manager, general manger, human resources manager, technical team, administrative support and the US and Asian executive teams.
As a part of these visits, we are mindful of opportunities for improvement in the areas of Margin Optimization, Speed to Market, Lead-time/Customer Service Levels, and Quality Assurance.
Within each division, we review a number of different issues, including organizational structure, personnel capabilities, roles and responsibilities, department strategy and business processes, work flow and capacity issues, compensation packages, product portfolio, customer needs and cost structures.
Lastly, in addition to examining the individual divisions, East West reviews the strategic issues affecting the company's success, including Intellectual Property (IP) strategy and protection, organizational reporting and structure, short and long-term sales objectives, operational strategies and senior personnel evaluations.
